2026 TASKFORCE ON THE REVIEW OF ASOR’S POLICY ON PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT

Charge

ASOR’s current Policy on Professional Conduct was approved by ASOR’s Board in 2015, publicly announced in 2017, and amended in 2019: this policy was the result of “17Թmembers’ call for a comprehensive professional conduct policy that would be consistent with ASOR’s Mission and Strategic Plan.” The policy was proposed to be reviewed annually.

In scope, the policy on professional conduct is intended to give guidance to ASOR’s standing committees as they write and implement their specific policies relating to their sphere of action. As 17Թis adopting a Strategic Plan for 2026-2030; and as the 17ԹBoard wishes to support the work of 17Թmembers who maintain the highest ethical standards of scholarship and public discourse, this Taskforce has been created:

  1. to examine the current Policy on Professional Conduct
  2. to collaborate with 17Թmembership, including the leadership, in revising the Policy on Professional Conduct
  3. to suggest revisions to ASOR’s Board that will enhance ASOR’s standards of scholarship and public discourse.
