ASOR’s 2022 Annual Meeting will have both in-person and virtual components. The virtual component will take place online, October 19-23. The in-person component will be held November 16-19 in downtown Boston at the Boston Park Plaza. The deadline to submit paper abstracts and/or workshop presentation proposals is March 15, 2022.

All paper, workshop, and poster abstracts must be submitted throughÌýASOR’s Online Abstract Management SystemÌýpowered by Oxford Abstracts. 17³Ô¹ÏStanding Sessions and many Member-Organized Sessions and Workshops are being offered as part of both the in-person and virtual components. An individual may present theÌýsameÌýpaper or workshop presentation as part of both components and this will count as 1 appearance.
Please read theÌýRules for ParticipationÌý²¹²Ô»åÌýASOR’s Policy on Professional ConductÌýbefore submitting your abstract.
Session chairs will accept papers on the basis of the quality of the abstract and its conformity to the following guidelines regarding content and format. To be considered by session chairs, abstracts also must be submitted by the deadline, and proposers must be current 17³Ô¹Ïmembers and registered for the meeting. Standards for acceptance will be the same for all abstracts submitted.
You may submit an abstract after completing these two requirements:

Scholarships available:ÌýDue to COVID-19, and thanks to ASOR’s generous members, current 17³Ô¹Ïmembers with a need may request a 25%, 50%, or full scholarship for annual meeting registration. E-mailÌýprograms@asor.orgÌýwith requests and a brief explanation. We will strive to meet all requests from members, with a preference towards those who have not received a scholarship in the past two years. We will do our best to meet requests from non-members and past scholarship recipients.
*Note for Scholars from Jordan:ÌýACOR awards 2 scholarships for participation in ASOR’s Annual Meeting (one in-person/Boston scholarship, and one virtual component scholarship). There is a place on the abstract submission form to indicate that the presenter is a scholar from Jordan and would like to be considered for anÌý.Ìý Jordanian scholars may postpone the membership and registration requirements until ACOR scholarship decisions are made.
The virtual component will be held online (October 19-23) before the meeting in Boston (November 16-19) in 2022.Ìý Should your paper abstract be accepted to the virtual component, please be prepared to record your paper presentation (as an mp4 video, 20 min. max), submit the recording by September 23, and attend the virtual session in October. Registered attendees should watch the presentations before the virtual component in order to fully participate in the sessions. The virtual session time (1 hour) will be used for paper discussion and Q&A with the presenters. Further details and virtual support will be available for virtual participants in May.
A note about Virtual Workshops:ÌýWorkshops are designated by the word “Workshopâ€ in parentheses at the end of the title.Ìý Virtual workshop presentations are limited to a maximum of 10 minutes and do not constitute a paper presentation. Unlike a paper session, these brief workshop presentations are not pre-recorded and they will be given during the virtual workshop in October.
Important: Please decide before submitting your abstract if, should it be accepted, you would like to present as part of the virtual component (online, October 19-23), in Boston (November 16-19), or both.Ìý There will be a required question on the abstract submission form to indicate your decision. You may submit the same abstract once for both virtual and in-person consideration, however, not all sessions/workshops are being offered as part of both components. Abstracts for the in-person and virtual components must be submitted viaÌý.
The abstract will be reviewed by session chairs based on the session/workshops that you select on the submission form. You may select a first-choice session or workshop as well as second-choice option. For further information or questions specifically related to sessions and workshops, we strongly suggest that you email the Chair(s)Ìýin advanceÌýof the submission deadline.
The 17³Ô¹ÏOffice will send e-mail proposal decision notifications by May 15. Questions regarding the online submission process or the status of a submission should be emailed toÌýArlene Press,ÌýASOR’s Director of Meetings and Events.
The content of the abstract should focus on the significance of the material or on proposed solutions to specific problems rather than on a descriptive narrative.
All submissions must be made electronically usingÌý.
